Domain and Range Notes:
What can go into a Funcation is called domain
What comes out of a fucntion is called Range
Example:
Give the domain and range in interval notation
The graph extends horizontally from x = −5 to x = 4. Because there are closed dots on these endpoints (instead of open dots), x = − 5 and x = 4 are part of the domain, too. The domain is [−5, 4]. The graph extends vertically from y = −4 to y = 3. The range is [−4, 3].
Function Notation Notes:
Example:
Given that f(x)=4x-2, Find f(2), f(3), f(-2)
f(2)=4(2)-2=6
f(3)=4(3)-2=10
f(-2)=4(-2)-2=-10
