Short Introduction to Medicinal Cannabis in the Netherlands: In general we speak of ''hennep'' / hemp, or hemp/ cbd - oil, when pollen, roots, leaves, seeds, whole plants or parts of these, are used from strains that mostly produce CBD and almost do not produce THC. These CBD containing strains (breeds or varieties) which were originally cultivated for the elongated fibers, are classified as agricultural varieties by governments. We talk about weed, cannabis, marijuana, ganja, Daga, hasj, hasjiesch, or thc/weed - oil, if use is made, of strains that do produce thc. This component can be hallucinogenic, psychoactive and / or sleep-inducing. These cultivated strains and feminized seeds generally contain almost no cbd but primarily THC. We talk about medical cannabis, or medical use of cannabis, to indicate the difference between recreational use. Note: Patients in the Netherlands have three choices:
1) The acquisition of governmental approved medicinal cannabis, by means of a prescription / recipe. Any doctor, clinical psychologist or psychiatrist may write this recipes. More information can be found on the site of the Office of Medicinal Cannabis of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. 2) Obtaining of cannabis in a coffee shop. 3) The self-cultivation of cannabis. We will not discuss pros and cons, or limitations of the law here.
Quote NCSM the Netherlands:
