White-line Disease

I have been traveling to a number of areas of the province over the last few months and have found 3 confirmed cases of whiteline disease, one in western and two in central. This is an extremely aggressive fungus that attacks the whiteline of the horses foot and if not treated can create a serious problem for your horse and their feet. If not caught early it can cost hundreds and even thousands of dollars to "fix" the problem not to mention the chances of your horse becoming lame for an extended period of time. Regular trimming and/or shoeing (6 to 8 weeks) allows you and your farrier the chance to monitor the condition of the foot and take any corrective action necessary to maintain a healthy foot. See attachments for examples of white-line disease.
