Entrepreneurship is a vibrant research area in both economics and finance.
I offer a 3-4 day short Phd course that exposes students to key research issues and methodologies, drawing on material from economics, finance, management, and psychology. The course covers both theoretical and empirical material. A central purpose will be to provide students with tools to do high-quality work in the area.
The lectures cover five different topics; entrepreneurial entry and credit constraints, entrepreneurial motivation, entrepreneurial performance, and business dynamism. The course usually also covers student presentations of - typically - recent papers published in top journals. The course runs over 10-15 hours.
Feel free to look at the syllabus. Some lecture notes are attached below. Here's a course photo from the inaugural course at University Oslo in May 2010. About 30 Phd students have followed the course so far.
I am always interested in expanding the audience for this material - if you are interested in having this course presented at your institution, please be in touch.
