About
Welcome! I am professor of Economics and Finance at the University of Bergen and also affiliated with CEPR and University of Aberdeen. My main research interests are entrepreneurship and corporate finance. My work has been featured in Science, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal. Below you will find a fun video that summarizes some of my entrepreneurship research.
My research employs a economic theory and register data to address questions such as "Are startups important for technology diffusion and adoption?", "What is the value of entrepreneurs for their firms?" and "Are individuals affected by their co-workers when making investment decisions?" I have written several columns for VoxEU.org.
I have published in leading journals of Economics, Finance and Management. I have consulted for the Norwegian government and several small and large companies.
I have been heavily involved in developing and running the ITØK program at UiB, a global innovation (I think) which integrates computer science, business, and economics. The program has been tremendously successful and attracts some of the best students in Norway. I have also developed what may be the first Economics of Entrepreneurship Phd course in the world. Feel free to contact me at hans.hvide'at'uib.no.
