There were 37 different settlements that the author was able to identify in Hamilton County. Some of these settlements existed for only a short time. Some were created to serve the stagecoach routes, others to accomodate the possibility of persuading a railroad to come to the area, and others to serve small clusters of settlers for a period of time.
