Scavenger Hunt 2023
The 2023 Halterworth Harriers Scavenger Hunt ran (quite literally) throughout January - here's a reminder of how the first couple of weeks went down: the Hunt is ON.
Please see the emails from Natalie about how to submit your scores and evidence, which needs to be done by 10 February. Look out for plenty of debate about rule interpretation (blue plaques, we're looking at you!).

The Volunteer/Supporter: Volunteer at a local parkrun, junior parkrun or another race event or support your friends at the Romsey 5 on 22 January 2023 - (3 points)
The Scavenger: Spell out the word S-C-A-V-E-N-G-E-R using street/building names. The letter must be the first letter of the street name - (5 points)
The Committed Harrier: For each Tuesday training you attend - (2 points per session plus 3 bonus points for attending all 5 sessions)
The Plogger: Go for a run incorporating an act of eco kindness (litter picking!) (5 points)
The Recruiter: Go for a run with someone not in a running club. Ten Bonus points if they join the Harriers before end of January! (3 points, plus 10 bonus points for recruiting them)
The 2023: Go for a run on New Year’s Day (3 points)
King/Queen of the Swingers: Go for a run past as many play parks as possible - (2 points per swing you go on, limit of 1 swing per park)
The Harriers Marvellous Medicine: Go for a run past as many DIFFERENT types of ‘medical/treatment’ establishments as you can e.g., Dr Surgery, Chiropractor, types of alternative medicine etc... be creative - (2 points per treatment centre)
The Blue Harrier: Go for a run incorporating as many blue plaques as possible - (2 points per plaque)
The Vamplew: Go for a run in the mud, glorious mud - (2 points)
The Scenic: Run any distance along a beach, in a forest or a wood - (2 points)
The Parkrunner: Complete a Parkrun, get a PB for 5 bonus points - (2 points, 5 extra for a PB)
The Fancy Dress: Go for a run in your finest fancy dress (to be judged, up to 10 points)
The Self-Care: Take part in an online, in person, YouTube session around stretching or strength and conditioning (3 points)
Trigger Happy: Go for a run incorporating a Trig point - (3 points)
Common as Muck: See how many different commons you can run through during the month (these can be incorporated on other runs rather than one common run) - (2 points per common)
Gone with the Wind: Go for a run incorporating Toothill (3 points)
The Rest Day: Go for a 30 minute walk – evidence needed (2 points)
The Double: A run pre 7am and post 7pm on the same day (be safe and run together where possible) - 4 points
Go with the Flow: Go for a run crossing as many streams/rivers as you can – names are needed! - (2 points per stream/river)
The Social Runner: Go for a run with a friend and end with a drink and a chat (picture needed) - (3 points)
The All Weather: Go for a run in the rain (or if we are lucky snow!) (2 points for rain, 4 points for snow)
Blue Monday: Running is the best medicine. Go for a run on Blue Monday (16 Jan) to help blast away any January blues - (2 points)
The Naked Runner: Go for a run with no watch and no headphones (2 points)
Head for Home: Run for a mile, flip a coin: heads you go home, tails you carry on for another mile; then flip a coin: heads you go home and so on… - (5 points)
The Proud Harrier: Go for a run in Harriers kit, the more the better! - (2 points)
The Improver: Pick a route (any distance from 1km). Can you improve your time on this course over the course of January? No pausing of watches – evidence needed. (4 points for improvement in time)
The Photographer: The most creative and/or beautiful photo taken on a run. Photos will be judged by a non-participating Harrier - (up to 5 points)
The Travelling Harrier: Go for a run outside of the county (yes Jon Egypt does count! Remember it doesn’t have to be far; Wiltshire is easily reached) - (3 points)
The David Attenborough: Go for a run and spot as many different animals as you can – photos will be needed (must all be seen on the same run) - (2 points per animal)
The Forest Gump: Go for a 'long run' - (2 points per mile)
Bonus - The Week Streak: Run every day for 7 days (you can only achieve this once). If taking part as a pair, both must do this! - (7 points)
