Tardy Policy and Passing Period

Tardy Policy: On Time versus Tardy

You will have a lot of things to do and prepare on your own before class starts. Band and Orchestra classes do not simply begin right away. Mr. Cruz will always try to begin class as soon as possible, however due to the nature of the classes, there are interruptions and high level concerns almost daily.

On Time:

·       You are inside room M170 when the school tardy bell rings.

·       You are seated in your assigned seat and location and all your equipment and materials are ready for class no more than 3 MINUTES after the tardy bell.

·       IPAD and MUSIC THEORY DAYS – You will be seated in your assigned seat and location with your music stand, paper, and pencil no more than 1 MINUTE after the tardy bell.

Tardy:

·       You are not inside room M170 when the school tardy bell rings. If caught, you might be tardy swept.

·       3 MINUTES after the tardy bell have elapsed and you are not seated in your assigned seat and location and your equipment and materials are not ready.

·       IPAD and MUSIC THEORY DAYS – 1 minute after the tardy bell has elapsed and you are not seated in your assigned seat and location with your music stand, paper, and pencil.

·       You will be marked tardy on MISIS.

NOTE WELL: The 3 extra minutes or 1 extra minute does not mean you have additional time to be in the quad or the hallway to pass between periods. YOU ARE INSIDE M170 WHEN THE TARDY BELL RINGS.

Passing Period

Passing period is the time between the end of a class/nutrition/lunch to the beginning of your next class.

Use your passing period wisely to go to your locker, the restroom, and or water fountain.

Do not ask Mr. Cruz for permission or to be excused to go to your locker, restroom, and or water fountain during passing period. Manage your time and stick to a schedule that allows you to be on time for all of your classes.
