Join us for our next meeting on Sunday, May 18th, 2025 at 2pm
Wayne State University in Old Main located at 480 West Hancock Street, Detroit, Michigan, 48201
CGSMYE provides an environment for classical guitar students, with at least 2 years of experience, middle school through high school age, to perform in a large guitar ensemble. This ensemble is meant to be a thrilling opportunity in addition to what a student receives from their home studio. Our first year will consist of a single level guitar orchestra led by our dedicated and masterful music directors, Scott Walter and Anthony DiMambro.

Audition Requirements
Audition Deadline: August 15th, 2025
Auditions for the CGSMYE are open to all students with at least 2 years of experience, middle school through high school. As this is a classical guitar ensemble, the audition must be on a traditional nylon string classical guitar, played with the individual fingers of the right hand (not a pick), and supported on the left leg with a traditional guitar support like a footrest or similar position support.
Auditions should be in video format to be considered for the CGSMYE. Students must prepare the following:
A 2-minute solo. This should be whatever best represents the student’s experience level.
Two of the following 2-octave Major scales: G, D , C, A
Recording Requirements:
Be sure the entire performer and guitar is completely visible. This is so we can see posture, hands, technique, etc.
Typically, your microphone/camera should be roughly 6 feet away from you. This will help with sound quality and eliminates extra noise (string squeaks and nail clicks). We understand not everyone has access to high quality recording equipment. It is more than acceptable to record your audition using a smartphone device. If you do not have access to any device that will record video, please email us.
Please submit your audition video by email to: president.cgsm@gmail.com
Tuition
The cost for student participation is $500 for the 2025/2026 season.
