The most important thing is to clean and dry the tent before you store it in the bag. If you must store it damp, then at the earliest opportunity (that same day) you must take the tent out of the bag, set it up and dry it before repacking. Do not return a wet or damp tent.
Like tents, cast iron cookware should not be put away wet.
Do not use a washing machine with a center agitator. The agitator will tear up the batting, which is key to keeping you warm. Also, always store a high quality sleeping bag (only one of ours is high quality) rolled. The ability to refluff is severely limited in a bag that is kept rolled up; it is the air pockets that really help with keeping you warm.
