This website is contains supplementary material for an article submitted to Primus: "Matrix Representations as a Gateway to Group Theory," by Mark Medwid (Rhode Island College) and Paul Becker (Penn State Behrend).
The article describes Maple laboratory experiences for undergraduates. These labs introduce standard group theory concepts, using block-diagonal matrix representations. This site will be populated by Maple worksheets and accompanying Word documents. Versions of some of these labs have been used in Math 435 (Basic Abstract Algebra) at Penn State Behrend, others are ideas for future courses. With each Maple worksheet,
Additional Maple files will be added during Spring 2020.
