The laboratory assignments on this page are from Math 435 (Basic Abstract Algebra), Fall 2019. The class had 20 students.
The class met in lecture on Mondays and Wednesday, and in a computer lab each Friday.
Labs 1A and 1B are from the first Friday of the semester. On Monday and Wednesday, the class discussed "What is linear algebra?" and "When can we solve equations?"
The class also experimented with rigid motions of wooden equilateral triangles, and tried solving equations like (rotation)*(flip) = (flip)*X.
Lab 1A was completed in small groups on Friday; each group turned in one solution sheet before leaving. Most groups finished Lab 1B outside class; there were some questions in class on Monday morning, and the solution sheet was due by the end of the day.
Note: The Maple files should be downloaded and then opened with Maple. (They were saved from Maple 2019.)
