Agency for Rural Transformation collaborated with People in Action to implement workshops with the participants of the local government leaders and community in. The training has been centered on the theme "Citizens' Rights to Development" and has been taken from the Commonwealth Foundation's "Citizens' Education for Good Governance Action Learning Guide" (CEAL)
The need for this good governance education was identified in PIA's GEF SGP Planning Grant process. Co-facilitator and PIA director Gordon "Dread" Paterson, acknowledged the community's recognition of the language of good governance; but recognized their inability to express examples of conducting or enacting good governance of principles.
PIA voiced the concerns for was invited to the Commonwealth Foundation/Caribbean Policy Development Centre Regional Civil Society Meeting 2009 were we had the good fortune to meet Mr Seth Lartey, who pointed out the "Citizens' Education for Good Governance Action Learning Guide" (CEAL) in print among the many pieces of material. We was soon to find out that the Caribbean, Grenada being one of the participating islands, had input in the development of the material. Our agency engaged ART's, Sandra Ferguson who had received training from CPDC in the use of the guide, for the design and execution workshop to complement the local government geotourism/geo-development .
