This site was created by Kathryn Lewkowicz, a former middle-school science teacher and current doctoral student of science education.
It was designed for a summer program for middle-school students, but hopefully it can serve as an educational resource for other grade levels and in other contexts. One of the goals of the site is to experiment with ways to engage students in investigating and reflecting on environmental justice issues in a critical and culturally relevant way.
Huge credit for this project's inspiration, as well as many of its specific ideas (e.g. SPONCH CaFe), goes to Dr. Douglas Zook, professor of science education at Boston University. Also, a huge shout-out goes to my former students who continue to inspire me!
