US and Canada Great Lakes Region Taiji Performance Festival (五大湖地区太极观摩演示交流会)
US and Canada Great Lakes Region Taiji Performance Festival will be held, Sunday, October 13th, 2013 from 12:00PM to 4:00 PM at University of Michigan Dearborn Field House, 4901 Evergreen Rd Dearborn, MI 48128. The program will feature teams and individual performing varying types of Taiji including Taiji Quan, Taiji Sword and Taiji Fan.
Taiji exercises are part of the ancient traditional Chinese culture. Adopting the Chinese philosophy of yin and yang, Taiji’s agile and peaceful movements have left a footprint all around the world. Within the Great Lakes states and Canada, Taiji practitioners have flourished like spring blossoms. Practiced by all ages, the benefits of Taiiji for health, stress reduction, balance and strength are often cited for maintaining wellness and for health recovery.
To pass on and promote the health benefits of Taiji and introduce this Chinese culture, The Great Lakes Taiji Association and The Chinese Association of Greater Detroit together will present the Festival. This is second annual Taiji Performance Festival. Culture and fitness will continue to be topics of interest to our ever growing global community. Taiji exercises are not only being practiced by the Chinese community anymore, but by people of all colors and cultural backgrounds. We would like this festival to be an opportunity for health and martial arts knowledge exchange, and also for cultural exchange.
