Starting the program:
1.) When the program opens, you are presented with a choice. You can either start a new log, or open an existing log.
2.) If you choose a new log, the entry boxes will be enabled. Make your initial entries (*check the status bar for information about how to format the entry) to start your new log and click on ok. The program will open with whatever initial entries you made listed in the grid, and with the Date already inserted and the Odometer ready for entry.
You can :
...start adding entries (2a) or
...load a previous set of entries that you saved from last time (2b) or
...save your current work (2c)
2a. if you start fresh, the cursor is already in the Odometer text box, type the number of miles your odometer is currently at in 7 digit format. The comma and period will be automatically added.
Hit the [Tab] key, and the cursor will move to Gallons, enter the total amount of fuel at time of fill up in 5 digit format, again the period will be automatically inserted.
Hit [Tab] again and enter the cost of filling up in 5 digit format.
Hit [Tab] again and enter any notes you might have (maintenance done, oil change, tune up, etc.)
Hit [Tab] one more time to go to the button. Check over your entries, if everything looks correct, just press your keyboards [Enter] key, and it will be added to the list.
2b. To load a file you were working on before, it is recommended to save your current work, then click the button and look for the file you wish to work on.
2c. Click on the button (to save your list), there is a default "GmfMileageLog" title which you can change to whatever you'd like, or use as your default file, there are no extensions for you to worry about having to add.
To continue adding to the list, follow the directions in 2a.
3.) You have the ability to copy and paste through the menu's, or by using the [ctrl]+[c] and [ctrl]+[v] keyboard shortcuts.
4.) To delete an entry, click on the entry to delete in the grid and click on the [Delete Entry] button.
