Alrighty then, moving right along, this is the release interface. This means that the data you enter should be able to be saved in the programs database. The graphing part isn't working, but the rest of the program works as far as we are able to determine. If you have problems running or find a bug, please post it in the feedback section.
Thankyou from the GMF Beta team !
Here is what the program currently does:
- Includes OS specific versions for Linux, Mac, and Windows.
- A sample log is included with the program folder and can be loaded into the program. You can use the program to keep track of multiple cars simply by changing the name of the log when saving, i.e. from GmfMileageLog to 1996MetroLog (or something else descriptive).
- Date gets auto-filled and is not editable.
- Entry boxes show the format for the entries, commas and periods should be entered automatically by the program but all the digits must be entered by you.
- Mpg Avg. box will auto-fill based on entries made (now working).
- If you are missing a receipt/entry, there are two ways to deal with it. One is to save your current log up to that point and start another for the next set of receipts. The other is to take your average fill up miles and use that in place of a real entry, using your past average to enter gallons. Cost can be used from the previous or current entry.
- Known bug: if you delete all your entries from the grid, the mpg av. method will create an out of bounds exception !! Be careful not to remove all entries from the grid.
- Totaling fields currently not working, will be added later.
- Notes are able to be added free form, and are stored completely.
- When the program is updated, copy the new files over the old files. Make sure you do not copy over your Mileage log, or you will be starting from scratch.
Here is what I would like to know :
- Does it run on *your* version(s) of Linux/Windows/Mac (or do you get any errors?)
- Can you enter text into the text boxes?
- Does it show up consistently on all versions (which version(s) do you run?)
- Do the buttons 'press'
Do you see an image in the 'graph box' - Does the notes area turn on scroll bars when you put in a LOT of notes
- Does the grid area show titles and rows for all the entries
- Does the Help system work properly
- If you are using Linux, the Windows version of the program should be able to run under wine, if you try it let me know if it works correctly
- Are there any improvements you can think of that should be made to the interface, or anything that would make it easier to understand what is going on in the program.
Thank you for the time and effort your putting into this, the program will have a credits section, everyone that tests it during this period will be in the line of credits.
Windows
This program appears to run in all versions of Windows from 95 up. If it does not run on your version of Windows, please let me know.
Linux
Linux users will have 2 ways to run this program, either in Linux natively, or using Wine emulator or another virtual machine. If running it under Wine, please install the Microsoft Fonts if you haven't already.
If running it natively, Linux needs the libstdc++5 libraries, use your distro's package manager to add them if the program doesn't start.
Mac
I have had some feedback on the Apple edition, and have corrected the way text is displayed, as well as the ability to re-open the files after saving them, this should now be a completely working version.
I have provided a feed back page, please use it to access the comments section .
