When searching for data regarding the time course of a number of phenomena, it is not easy to present this in a clear and organized manner; an important source of information has been Wikipedia, among others. A number of these phenomena have a large area of overlap with medical science and can therefore be looked up in PubMed. The PubMed database automatically provides a visual overview of how many articles per year relate to the search query; naturally, the emerging digitization process plays a major role in that result, but it also says something about the current interest and the passage of time for a particular subject, and the interest in it within medical research. As an aid to present a number of matters in a clear manner, an overview of these PubMed search results is provided below. The various topics and references are extensively documented in subtabs of this overview, which can also be accessed via the link below each PubMed result.
