Environment

Pollution - Allowed / Not Allowed

Garden refuse can be transported by you to the local dump, Club Street Sandringham. (Past the Police station, 1st left, on right in the first dip of the road).

You are not permitted to burn garden refuse, plastic and other pollution creating items.

You may NOT burn coal, you can burn anthracite for house heating.

You may use LPG Gas for house heating.

It is illegal and corrupt

To get the Pikitup vehicle and or staff remove garden refuse/rubbish directly from your property.

Pikitup staff are NOT allowed on your property

Pikitup staff are NOT allowed take garden refuse/rubbish that you put on your pavement, except in a wheelie bin.

They are not allowed to take payments directly for removing refuse.

Basically, they should only empty your wheelie bin.

Public Event organisation

What is a public event? It is where members of the public organise a public event on municipal land, (even a gathering small number of people need a permit).

If you want to organise a public event you need a permit from Joburg.

EMS (Emergency Management Services) deal with public events 011 407 6018.

You have to fill the forms in & submit them. Then the organiser of the event goes to a JOC meeting on Thursdays where they decide if the events can happen or not.

Get the paper work done before you start organising the event!

If the event does not have the permit Joburg will close your event down irrespective of the nature of the event as it is contravening a bylaw.
