Erika Mashig, Parks and Open Space Planner and Dean Gibson, Director of Parks, Culture and Recreation will give a presentation on the Urban Forest Management Strategy.The presentation will focus on the holistic approach of the Strategy which identifies a comprehensive set of 40 actions to be implemented over 20 years to reverse the current trend and increase the city-wide tree canopy cover (including public and private lands) from 18% to a target of 27%.
Christina Grammenos will give a presentation on the Friendly Landlord Network
Tristan Johnson will provide an update on the Official Community Plan, Our City Conversation on Housing focusing on Glenbrooke North.

Information session on "What Glenbrooke North residents should know when there is a neighbourhood emergency"and an Emergency Kit will be given away to one lucky Glenbrooke North Resident.
Canada Day Celebrations at Queens's Park. July 4, 2015
A great day at Queen's Park yesterday celebrating Canada Day and our great neighbourhood of Glenbrooke North. Lots of people came by our table and loved our display. We were the only Residents Association to participate. 70 people tried to find the 11 locations listed on our Virtual Scavenger Hunt contest and everyone found enough locations to win a prize. Many people from inside and outside of our neighbourhood were amazed to learn that we have the NW Electrical Sub Station and Operations Work Yard, Canada Post Distribution Centre, two great schools: Herbert Spencer Elementary and Ecole Glenbrook Middle School, two parks: Terry Hughes and Sinclair & 2 large Monkey Puzzle trees along Sixth Avenue with one pop up library at 222 Princess Street. 210 Durham Street Rezoning Application Update From Monday July 13th, 2015 Council meeting:
MOVED and SECONDED
THAT the application to rezone the property located at 210 Durham Street be rejected.
CARRIED.
All members of Council present voted in favour of the motion.

March 26, 2015 Meeting
Agenda: NW City Councillor Patrick Johnstone will lead an information session on the upcoming "Transportation Plebiscite" followed by a question and answer period.
Following the information session we will revisit the motion from our January 29th meeting "Be it resolved that the Glenbrooke North Residents Association endorse the Translink Mayors' Council Vision and Investment Plan and support the "Yes" position in the upcoming Transportation and Transit Referendum with the other New Westminster partners."
The Kambo family, owners of 210 Durham Street will give us their subdivision presentation. Joe Malcolm, 632 2nd St has withdrawn his presentation.

January 29, 2015 Meeting
We will be nominating and electing 2015 board members. If you can help your Residents Association this year, please contact GNRA President Tom Lockhart at 604-777-5485 and come to our January meeting. Inspector Phil Eastwood from the NW Police Department will come and give us a presentation on the NWPD Strategic Planning process. The police department’s goal is to receive the thoughts, perspectives and opinions regarding the policing of our city from as many people as possible that live, work, play or come to school in New Westminster by January 15th. November 27, 2014 Meeting:
Our guest speakers, Jim Lowrie and Eugene Wat are from the City of NW Engineering Department. The Engineering department representatives will explain how the city budgets and plans its capital projects. How they prioritize and schedule the work throughout the City and how we can better understand and improve communication between City Hall and our Glenbrooke North neighbourhood.
A question and answer period will follow.
s Association meeting in the New Westminster Public Library, upstairs in the Plaskett Room on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Doors open at 6:45, meeting starts promptly at 7pm. Our guest speaker this month is Jonathon X. Cote, NW City Council who will speak on “My vision for New Westminster”. A question and answer period will follow. There will be an update on the new smoking by-laws and the “Commit to Quit” campaign starting Sept 23. We will also have a discussion and prioritize the need for pedestrian controlled crosswalks along Eighth Avenue between Sixth Street and First Street.
Our last meeting raised quite a discussion when two residents voiced their concern over not having equal representation from all Mayoral candidates and Councillors at our Sept meeting. At the time of our executive meeting in August, only Jonathon Cote had declared his interest in the Mayor seat. As Mayor Wayne Wright has been a long serving, hard working Mayor and is well known by all, we were interested in hearing what the new candidate had planned for New Westminster. Jonathon came and spoke for an hour on his five key topics and educated us with his vision for NW. Residents were able to ask him questions and express their opinions before he had to leave for another meeting. We are limited in the Library Plaskett Room to 25 people and we exceeded our limit by 5, so some people had to sit on the floor or stand. We would not have been able to accommodate any other speakers or guests even if we had invited them. On the other topics discussed, Deanna Tan updated us on the "Commit to Quit" campaign and the new smoking bylaws effective Jan 1 and made us aware of the changes already taken place with the new placement of the "smoking" benches at Royal City Centre. We also prioritized the pedestrian crosswalk safety concerns along Eighth Avenue and placed the intersection at 5th Street as our top priority. The Minutes have been posted to this website.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all Residents of Glenbrooke North.
Our first G.N. meeting of 2013 will be held on Wednesday, January 16th at 7pm. We have arranged a meeting space at Dunwood Place, 909 Colborne Street in the Green Room. To find our new meeting place at Dunwood Place go to 909 Colbourne (not 901 in the lane) and go straight through the doors to the elevator. Take the elevator up one floor to the 5th floor and look for the Green room and lounge. We will have someone wait at the outside door till 7:05, then if you arrive later, call the caretaker Glen in Room 112 to be buzzed inside.
Refreshments will be provided so bring your mug.
As it is over a year since our last GNRA meeting and our President and Treasurer have moved out of Glenbrooke North, we will be holding elections for all executive positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Members at Large who can assist with special projects like our annual garage sale or represent us on N.W. City committees. We also need help maintaining our website www.glenbrookenorth.ca.
In the past we have met every two months and 5 times a year: January, March, May, September and November.
Please volunteer, we need your help to get started again.
