May 12 @ North Independence Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library - All day event that features nationally known authors and illustrators and includes panel discussions, writing and illustrating clinics, a writing context, a poetry slam, music and food trucks. Get more information here.

Writing & Art Contest
Admissions are being accepted now through March 1st – here is the blurb and the link:  If you are an aspiring writer or artist, our Creative Contest is the opportunity you’ve been looking for! Starting February 1st, you can enter your short fiction, non-fiction, poetry or visual art. The Greater Kansas City Association of School Librarians includes active and retired librarians from Kansas City area schools. The Association sponsors the Great Kids Can Read Award and provides area librarians with an opportunity to network and share ideas. In addition, the Association honors members with awards for outstanding media center programs and educational grants.
