Third Home Being Constructed Along Ever Popular Bungalow Plan

Two attractive houses have just been completed and one is well under way which display a distinctive style of architecture, and which will represent a total cost to the various owners of $11,000.

Carpenters are now busy erecting the framework of a handsome residence on the southwest corner of Bean and Ash streets, Brooklyn Heights, for Peter M. Price.

The plans, which were drawn by Irving J. Gill, call for a structure of a particularly attractive and distinctive style of architecture, resembling somewhat the old mission effect. It will be one story in height, containing eight rooms in the form of a "U" forming three sides to an open court, which faces south. The exterior finish, will be of plaster over a lattice of wooden lath.

Entrance will be obtained on the west side through a glass enclosed vestibule, which opens into the dining room on the left and a large living room on the right, the latter two rooms and the vestibule taking up the entire west side of the building.

The vestibule also opens into a large solarium or sun room, which is one of the main features of the house. It will run the length of the north side of the court, and will also front on a large portion of the east side of the court. In addition to the solarium and living room, a bed room will also face the court on the east side. The east side of the house, not including the rooms facing the court will have three bedrooms and a bath, while the north side will contain the kitchen, screen porch, servants' bed room and pantry. All rooms in the house will open onto the solarium.

The interior finishing will be attractive. The dining room, living room and vestibule wil be wainscoted with redwood, left in its natural state, and will have hard maple floors. The living room will also have beam ceilings, with the artistic redwood finish. The remaining woodwork of the house will be of Oregon pine painted. The walls and ceilings will be plastered, with flush casings. Pretty fireplaces in the dining room and living room and also a buffet in the former will be among the features. Each bedroom in the house, as well as the kitchen and bathroom, will have hot and cold running water.

A garage will also be erected in the rear of the house, facing on Ash street.

The large court which the house surrounds will be laid out with walks and made attractive with flowers, trees and shrubbery. This structure when completed will have cost about $5000. Harris, Gaines and Foreband are the contractors.
