Delta Scholars, of the Columbia Maryland Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, originated as an academic sorority of African-American girls from 10th-12th grade with a GPA of 3.0 or higher at Oakland Mills High School. Over the years, Delta Scholars chapters were created at other Howard County schools, and the sorority expanded to include all girls 10th-12th grade, regardless of race. Delta Scholars promotes continued academic excellence and well-being, through community service projects, assistance in setting goals and planning for the future, and leadership opportunities.
Delta Scholars is an all-female honor society. In the community, there are not many ways for ladies to come together and discuss important and relevant topics. This society allows the ladies of Glenelg High School who have a weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher to come together and empower one another. We work together in showing class, culture, and confidence.
Delta Scholars meets every other Tuesday in the back of the GHS Media Center from 2:15 pm to 3:00 pm. Meetings are posted in the GroupMe chat.
We take part in many volunteer projects as well, such as donating snack bags to the Ronald McDonald House, sending cards to hospitalized children, and giving holiday gifts to a family need. The cards we received after completing these projects are shown below!
