Areas included:  The Middle Rhine area includes the entire federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Saarland, for Hessen the Rheingau and parts of the former principality of Nassau, and also the former Grand Duchy of Darmstadt, for Baden-Württemberg the area of the former Electoral Palatinate, and finally the areas in Lower Franconia that were part of the Electorate of Mainz.

Notes: The series of sheet music "Music between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea" was developed within the framework of the German-Danish EU-project "Music and religion between Rendsburg and Ribe" [Musik og religion mellem Rendsburg og Ribe" (2013-15).

Their follow-up publications, which were published as a cooperation between the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany and the Musicology Department of the University of Freiburg University of Freiburg, contribute to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation of Martin Luther (2017). The series of sheet music aims to present musical works from the areas between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea in scientifically sound editions for musical practice.
