About Us

History of the GIC-IGC

We began our discussion of launching the GeoGebra Institute of Canada / Institut de GeoGebra du Canada (GIC-IGC) in May 2009, at the Canadian Mathematics Education Forum (CMEF) 2009 in Vancouver, BC, and continued to improve ideas and action plans at the MACAS3, June conference in Moncton, NB. After developing an action plan, we organized an ad-hoc session at CMESG 2009 June meeting in Toronto, ON. We shared our plans and goals with the audience and invited them to be part of Canadian GeoGebra team. After establishing GIC-IGC, our first academic activity was to organize a panel session at the CMS Winter 2009 Meeting in Windsor, ON. This occasion also served as the official inauguration of GIC-IGC. We function under the auspices of the International GeoGebra Institute (IGI).

L'Histoire de IGC-GIC

Nous avons entamé notre discussion sur le lancement du GeoGebra Institute of Canada / Institut de GeoGebra du Canada (GIC-IGC) en mai 2009, lors du Forum canadien de l'enseignement des mathématiques (FCEM) à Vancouver, en C.-B., et on a continué à mijoter  les idées et les plans d'action au MACAS3, une conférence internationale à Moncton, au N-B., en fin de mai. Après avoir développé un plan d'action, nous avons fait une présentation lors de la session ad hoc à la rencontre annuelle du GCEDM en juin 2009, à Toronto, ON. Nous avons partagé nos plans et nos objectifs avec le public et nous  l’avons invité à faire partie de l'équipe canadienne de GeoGebra. Après avoir établi le GIC-IGC, notre première activité académique fut d'organiser une table ronde lors de la réunion d'hiver de 2009 de la SMC à Windsor, ON. Cet événement a été également l'inauguration officielle de GIC-IGC. Nous fonctionnons sous les auspices de l'Institut international GeoGebra (IGI).

GIC-IGC Certificates / Certificats de GIC-IGC

GeoGebra Institute Trainer: Demonstrates an in-depth familiarity with the software and a high level of experience in providing GeoGebra workshops having delivered at least three such workshops at international venues. This certificate must be issued by the IGI.

GeoGebra Trainer: Demonstrates an ability to provide effective workshops regarding beginner and expert users of GeoGebra and has created GeoGebra materials. This certificate shall be issued by the GeoGebra Institute of Canada.

GeoGebra Expert: Demonstrates an ability to create digital GeoGebra worksheets and has used GeoGebra in her/his institution (school, college, or university). This certificate can be issued by either GI-Canada or by a provincial/regional GeoGebra Institute in Canada.

GeoGebra User: Participates in one of the workshops provided by the GeoGebra Institute of Canada, demonstrates the use of basic features of GeoGebra and effective use of dynamic worksheets designed by others, and declares a willingness to learn further. This certificate can be issued by either GI-Canada or by a provincial/regional GeoGebra Institute in Canada.

Formateur de l’Institut GeoGebra : Démontre une connaissance profonde du logiciel et un niveau élevé d'expérience dans l’animation des ateliers GeoGebra ayant livré au moins trois de ces ateliers au niveau international. La certification doit être délivrée par le GII. 

Formateur en GeoGebra : Démontre une capacité d’offrir des ateliers efficaces pour les utilisateurs de GeoGebra tant au niveau débutant et que celui d’expert et a une expérience de développement  du matériel sur GeoGebra. Ce certificat est délivré par l'Institut GeoGebra du Canada.

Expert en GeoGebra : Démontre une aptitude de créer des feuilles numériques de GéoGebra et en a déjà utilisé  dans son institution (école, collège ou université). Ce certificat peut être délivré soit par GI-Canada ou par un institut provincial / régional GeoGebra au Canada.

Utilisateur de GeoGebra : Participe à l'un des ateliers offerts par l'Institut GeoGebra du Canada, démontre l’habileté d'utilisation de fonctionalités de base de GeoGebra et d'utilisation efficace des feuilles de travail dynamiques conçues par les autres, et déclare la volonté d'apprendre davantage. Ce certificat peut être délivré soit par GI-Canada ou par un institut provincial / régional GeoGebra au Canada.
