This public Google Site is yours to access ANY TIME you need to remember or share the details about the workshop offered by Purdue University Northwest.
As you will see in this workshop, we are openly sharing ALL the work we have done. We will help you share your work by creating web-based public projects.
The original form of this work was created for Advancing Computation Thinking (CT) via Scenario-Based Learning (SBL) as part of a two year research grant project in Information Technology (IT) funded by the NSF CPATH grant (NSF CCF 0939089). The revised and expanded workshop for the GenCyber NSF grant will help you apply computational thinking and scenario-based learning strategies to teaching students about Cybersecurity.
By the end of the week, you will be able to:
During this week, you will work together with your fellow colleagues to design a scenario incorporating cybersecurity principles that you can use with your future students. It is hoped that you will get a chance to collaborate and connect students across buildings and districts! We also hope that you will be able to take advantage of the content knowledge that you'll develop during the week to help ensure that all of your students are safe, ethical, and protected when using technology.
Your workshop experience continues! Included with part of your stipend is an additional amount to provide for a sub in your room so that you can join us for a follow-up session. You have two date choices:
In order to fully complete your GenCyber experience, you must plan to attend one of these two dates. They will again be held here on the Westville campus in the TECH 012 lab.
Lunch will be served, and we'll be facilitating discussion and activities around teaching and implementing computer science in your classroom. In this way, we can continue the conversation and learn more from one another.
If you are interested in earning graduate credit and/or Common Sense Education Digital Citizenship certification for your school building or district, there are opportunities to participate in further online experiences. A 6-week online course offered through Indiana Connected Educators (ICE) and created by Common Sense Education is available to you, as we will help you get started with this should you wish to extend your professional development further.
The PNW College of Technology also offers extension certification programs, including bachelor's and master's programs, and individual courses and certificates.
