CLASS RULES

Room: K32

Rules

  • No Cell phones in hands, on or in desks, chairs, books, hidden in pockets etc. Leave your cell phones in your bags. No earphones.
  • No cheating. 1st caution = -10%, 2nd cautions = end of test, 0%.
  • Final note: If you have a serious reason for not being able to fulfill the requirements, come to my office and we can discuss it.

Grading - Lower Grades (Prima-Kvarta)

Your final grade will depend on the weighted average of your marks, your participation in the classes and possibly your performance in the lessons with the native speaker.

Your marks have different weights, here is an example.

  • Quarterly tests (4)
  • Essays (2-small and 4-big)
  • Small tests (1)
  • Presentation, project (1)

The two big tests and the essays are obligatory.

Each homework not done means -0,5% to the final grade.

During the year, you may get Bonus points from different activities, each point is worth +0,25% to your final grade. The same goes for negative points which are worth -0,25%. You get these for example for not paying attention, forgetting your books etc.

Grading - Higher Grades (Kvinta-Oktava)

Each semester you will write

  • 2 Quarterly tests worth 100 points each
  • 1 Big essay worth 100 points
  • 1 Small essay worth 50 points
  • Various other small tests, projects etc. worth from 10-50 points each
  • A couple Homework assignments worth 10 points each

This will together with points for participation give you your final mark from my classes which will be adjusted based on your performance in Native speakers’ classes.

Essays

- The essays are obligatory and everyone must write them. If you are absent, ask your classmates about the topics.

- Write your own stuff. I can google pretty well and if I find you have copied the text from some website you’ll get zero percentage from the test and severe reprimands will follow.

- Some essays are written in class other can be done at home and then brought printed out or sent via e-mail.

- In case of home-essays, if you fail to send the essay before the deadline, each day of delay (even weekends and holidays) means -5% to its final score.

Presentations

- Reading the text is not allowed

- Length: ~5 minutes

- You can use a PowerPoint presentation, pictures etc.

- You should focus on contents and fluent speech, grammar is not the most important fact here

Big Tests

- For a whole lesson

- 1st in mid November, 2nd in early January

- Everyone must write these tests, a 2nd term will be given for those who miss the 1st

Small Tests

- Take about 10-15 minutes

- The tests might or might not be announced beforehand.

Quests

- If you are cautioned twice during a single lesson a you will get a quest.

- Find the exact assignment on the website and bring it for the FIRST following lesson (with the exception of two lessons in one day) HANDWRITTEN on a piece of paper.

- Failure to do so will result in -0,5% to your final score and you will still be expected to bring it NEXT lesson.

- When you are given a quest you automatically do the highest quest you haven't done yet - you start with number 1 then 2 etc. The tasks get ever more difficult.

- No, there is no upper limit on quests.

- Yes, you can get two or more quests in a single lesson.
