Patan Buddhist Caves, Malavli (near Lonavala) - 4th Feb 2020

Wiki : NA

Location : Google Maps

My review on Google Maps:

Update 4th Feb 2020.

Once the other reviewers had corrected the location on Google Maps (thanks) I just had to come here again. Managed to find the caves this time. The journey uphill took me about an hour, I'm not very fit ;-). The final 25 meters are a bit difficult. Not a soul on the hill. I found one cave with a nave on one side with the stupa. See attached pics. When I was returning and looked up I saw what appears to be a second smaller cave to the left of this cave. If any of you go there, confirm and post pics of the second cave (if any). Is it worth coming here? If you like off-the-beaten-path stuff, yes. Like many other caves in this region the rock under the cave had been hollowed out - to store rain water I think. Also, this might be a original, authentic cave (clap, clap) - not a 'restored by the ASI' cave. See attached pics. Rating changed to five stars (from one).

Orig review:

I couldn't find the caves at this location or near by. Someone please post the correct location of Patan Buddhist Caves. This location on Google Maps is misleading.

The rocks below the cave are hollowed out.

Most probably to store rain water.

The climb just before the cave.

Slightly difficult, be careful, if you fall you might roll downhill.
