I am a data analyst and economist. I work as a research associate professor at the Survey Research Center of Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan. My home is the Health and Retirement Study work group.

I do empirical research in labor economics, household behavior, health, education and demography. My new research focuses on measuring and understanding the life-course causes of cognitive decline among older people. An older line of my research studies the disadvantages of and prejudice against the Roma minority in Eastern Europe.

I teach data analysis and econometrics.

I am currently working on a textbook on data analysis with Gabor Bekes. It's working title is Data Analysis for Business, Economics and Policy: Exploration, Patterns, Prediction and Causality. We just call it the Gabors' Guide to Data AnalysisHere is the preliminary website for the book.
