GUIDELINES

January 1, 2014

ARTICLE I - NAME

The name of this organization is: Senior Computer User Group.

ARTICLE II - PURPOSE

To promote and encourage seniors (age 50 and older) in the use of computers.

To provide seniors with information about computer technology and give them an opportunity to develop computer skills by offering monthly meetings:

General Meeting

Digital Imaging Special Interest Group

Genealogy Special Interest Group

Resource Sharing Special Interest Group

Internet Special Interest Group

To set up an information network to assist members with computer problems or questions through the use of the Special Interest Groups.

To utilize the support and special services of the Fox Valley Technical College and work closely with them.

ARTICLE III - LOCATION

The principal location is Fox Valley Technical College, D.J. Bordini Business & Industry Center, 5 Systems Drive, Appleton, Wisconsin 54912-2277.

ARTICLE IV - STEERING COMMITTEE

The Steering Committee shall consist of:

The four elected officers consisting of the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer,

The Senior Computer User Group Coordinator,

The immediate past officers,

The Special Interest Group Facilitators, and

The Historian.

Vacancies of elected officers occurring during their term shall be filled by the Steering Committee until the next election.

Steering Committee Meetings are open to all members but voting is restricted to Steering Committee Meeting members.

Steering Committee members shall serve without compensation.

A majority of the Steering Committee shall be necessary to pass any resolution.

The group shall meet monthly to manage the affairs of the organization, and to advise and promote the goals of Senior Computer User Group.

ARTICLE V-- OFFICERS

The officers of this organization shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.

Elected Officers term of office shall be for two years, beginning on January first. The President and Secretary will be elected for terms starting in even numbered years and the Vice-President and Treasurer for terms starting in odd-numbered years.

DUTIES -- THE PRESIDENT

Shall preside at all meetings of the membership.

Appoint special committees as needed.

Be in general charge of the organization.

DUTIES -- THE VICE-PRESIDENT

Shall perform the duties of the President in case of the absence, disability or inability for any reason of the President to perform the duties of their office.

Write thank you letters to the program presenters.

DUTIES --THE SECRETARY

Shall have the responsibility to take and keep on file the minutes of all meetings.

Correspond as necessary to conduct the business of this organization, including providing notice of all meetings to members and to public media when appropriate.

DUTIES -- THE TREASURER

Shall write checks for expenditures authorized by at least one other officers.

Account for all receipts, disbursements and reports as requested.

ARTICLE VI -- MEMBERSHIP

Members shall be persons 50 and older and have an interest in computers and computer applications.

Members have a right to vote and to serve as officers.

ARTICLE VII -- FEES, ANNUAL DUES

The Senior Computer User Group currently has no fees or annual dues for the members. Future dues are subject to change and will be determined by the Steering Committee.

ARTICLE VIII -- MEETINGS

Regular meetings of the membership shall be conducted once a month. Notice shall be given of the time and place of General Membership meetings.

A regular meeting may be canceled if there is no availability of Fox Valley Technical College facilities.

ARTICLE IX -- ELECTIONS

Election of officers will take place at the November general membership meeting prior to expiration of the current terms of office. All members may vote for officers at this election meeting.

Nominations from the floor will be accepted in September prior to the election at the November meeting.

Nominees may decline a nomination.

If more than two members have been nominated for an office, a runoff election in October will reduce the number of nominees to two.

Election to office requires a majority vote of members present.

ARTICLE X -- AMENDMENTS

These Guidelines may be repealed, amended or new Guidelines adopted at any meeting of the Senior Computer User Group by two-thirds majority vote at each of two consecutive meetings.
