« From Kungur » Is a group of families who have or who are in the process of adopting children from
Kungur Baby Home #1 .
Kungur (Кунгур) is located in the Perm region, in the Russian Ural Mountains (1533 km/952 miles from Moscow and 101 km/62 miles South-East from the City of Perm - Population 80000.)

The baby home has been around for 90 year and welcomes children from 0 to 9 years old.

Everyone who has adopted from this home would agree that Olga Tereshenko has run this orphanage in the most exemplary fashion. She has been the Chief of Medicine since 2003 and the Director since 2006 till 2013.The transition between directors and our continued communication is wonderfully assured by Svetlana Barsukowa who took the direction of the orphanage in February, 2013.

The Baby home staff is entirely dedicated to the children.
Despite poor funding the staff focuses on the welfare of the children. The house provides Medical Staff (physicians, Psychologist, Special Educators)...
...Education and Artistic activities (Dance, Yoga, introduction to Music…)
The staff utilizes all their skills for the well being of the children.

This Baby house works in collaboration with the region of Perm, but survives primarily thanks to private funds (The City’s railroad donated the new building where the children are now housed).

Our group now includes about fifty families from across the globe (France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, USA, Canada, Italy, Switzerland and Germany…) who have adopted children from this baby home , have found each other and share their stories, pictures, videos. Some of families have been able to meet and the children were reunited. Most of all we would like to show our recognition to the women who have taken such good care of the children before they became ours, and who still care for the children waiting to be adopted.
We keep in touch with the Baby house staff and send them pictures, drawings and news. We created a « collective book » which is updated regularly.
We know how much they appreciate hearing from our children . They told us that they will never forget every single one of them. We are happy to still be in contact with these exceptional women and today we can tell our children that they were loved in their native country: Russia.
Most of us believe that these women have « saved »
our children thanks to their care and affection.
