Double your impact!

Donate today and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar when we meet our $5,000 match!

You can see it in your mind’s eye, can’t you? Over there by that sunny window, someone is sitting in a comfy chair tapping on her tablet. Two other people are sitting at the wooden table nearby quietly discussing a project. In another stuffed chair one of the regulars is telecommuting on his lap top. At the circulation desk, there are a couple of young people, high school students maybe, who each have a stack of books they are borrowing for their school project. In the children’s area a toddler and her grandma are cozied together in a soft, oversized chair, quietly reading a book. Two older children are playing with blocks nearby. And a librarian is helping another boy look for a book. In the community meeting room, a strength training class just finished up. A few of the participants are chatting as they put things away. Later today a book club will meet.

All of this is possible because you care about Shutesbury and the people who live here. You believe in all the possibilities a public library can provide. You believe in public access to the usual: books, magazines, DVDs. But because we are Shutesbury, you also know libraries can provide more than just books. In our teeny, tiny library now we already loan kayaks, a telescope, and chemistry kits. Imagine the kinds of things we will be able to offer to our community when we have more space: special collections like local history, snowshoes, tennis rackets, ukuleles, tools, making us a real community lending library.

We are working our way to this new Shutesbury Library, the place that does all these things – and things you haven’t yet imagined. But most important, this place we imagine will foster community connections, budding imaginations, innovation, and cooperation. It will be a space for all, babies, seniors, and everyone in between. We are on our way because of people like you! You believe in this vision and you have supported this vision, time and time again. Thank you. We are getting there.

Between the privately donated funds contributed by people like you, and the funds appropriated by Town Meeting, we now have more than $365,000 saved for a new Shutesbury Library. Thanks to you, we are well on our way to meeting a future state grant.

Today is Library Giving Day. And today, your donation to make our vision a reality is worth twice as much. Our team of challenge donors is with us once again, promising a $5,000 match if we raise $5,000 in donations by 11:59 pm on April 10th. Please donate now. You can help us meet the challenge. You can build a new Shutesbury Library.
