If you're passionate about acting, performing, and being on stage, try out for a show! Rehearsals are Monday-Friday (some Saturdays), and they become longer and more frequent as opening night approaches. Major roles in shows often require more rehearsals than minor roles; however, every role in the production is equally as important as the rest.
Auditions take place a few months prior to the opening of each show.
Play: Auditions take place in August: one day for an original audition, and one day for callbacks.
Winter One Acts: Auditions take place in November
Musical: Auditions take place in January/February with two days of audition workshops, two days of auditions(one for vocal, one for dance), and one callback date.
Callbacks: An extra audition so the directors can receive a larger showcase of talent from some students. Usually an extra day added onto the regular audition schedule.
If you enjoy building, painting, and creating, set crew is the place for you. Set crew meets every day after school during show season to produce beautiful sets using various power tools including drills, saws, and other equipment. Experience in building and painting is helpful, but everyone is welcome!
As opening night approaches, Set Crew transitions into Running Crew, managing the movement of all set pieces including walls, flats, chairs, and other structures. Their goal is to move as quickly and quietly as they can during scene changes and to make every show run as smoothly as possible.
Props crew gathers and makes props of all shapes and sizes for the musical, play, and contest play. During rehearsals and shows, they manage and organize countless props on and off stage; enhancing and fine tuning key details in every show. Perfect for creative, resourceful minds!
Costumes crew creates, gathers, alters, and maintains the wardrobe for cast during productions. They also make sure actors' hair and makeup are fabulous and stage ready! Knowledge in sewing, makeup, and hair styling are helpful, but not necessary; you can learn and be taught all of the ins and outs of costumery!
Tech crew runs lights, sounds, and other technical aspects of shows. They use high end microphones, intelligent lights, haze and fog machines, and much more equipment to make amazing special effects. In addition to running shows with the rest of the crews, Tech Crew works year round providing lights and sound for various performances, shows, and events throughout the year. Previous experience with technical equipment is of course helpful, but veterans can teach you everything you need to know!
