Serious Soviet Era type shit on steroids!

..." Houston, we have a problem! "...

I LIKE BRUTALIST ARCHITECTURE.

In fact - I like Brutalist Architecture - a lot!

... and I get it!

Simplicity of Design.

Form and Function.

The use of Light and Space.

The use of modern materials and textures such as concrete and glass within that open space.

The use of the latest building techniques as a means of contruction.

... I get it!

But the million dollar question still remains:

... is it beauty?

... is it art!

I have been in the process for some time now working this through and trying to figure this one out and so it would seem that this may take me a little while longer.

Meaning, that I am essentially a lazy bastard in all its forms ...

I mean, simply to upload meaningless drivel and constant drama on a regular basis would be complete anathema to me.

Give me a bike ride along the coast towards some nice secluded spot to do me some ' Cloud Watching'... Included therein, a packet of 20fags ( that is cigarettes and not homosexuals for American readers ) in the top pocket of my leather jacket and my MP3 in the other just for good measure ...

NEVER-EVER!

Drink ANY alcohol when riding a motorcycle and ALWAYS wear a decent crash-helmet!

T.E.Lawrence snuffed it for not wearing one and so let that be a lesson for us all!

There exists a very fine line between Bravado and Stupidity and it exists for a reason.

So you see, I even provide Public Service Announcements ... so what more could you possibly ask ?

The above is my favourite piece of Art-Architecture in the whole world and so, as you can see, I do have a major problem here. Do remember also. That as a kid. I actually grew up surrounded by this stuff and I can even recall watching some of it being built! Therefore, I have a close connection with any and/or all post war ' Modernist Architecture ' as it were ...

There is a considerable amount of BA in Britain for example and much more than I at first thought.

Due primarily to the aftermath of the war - During the Blitz - where certain Towns and Cities were targeted because of their strategic position.  Plymouth and the naval dockyards in the SW and also Manchester-Salford-Docks in the NW would be a good example of this as well as coastal defences and London and the East End. Apart from the obvious and grotesque use of multi-story-car-parks and parking lots ( many now demolished! ) there are, in fact, many innovative and creative administrative buildings and council offices across the the land ...

Including a number of university faculties and buildings designed to house a  specific discipline of Science and Technology and Art. Whilst in the city of Liverpool, there is even a Catholic Cathedral!

There are also a number of quant and somewhat secluded government buildings dotted around the landscape and almost as though on purpose. When you look from a distance but then step forward and begin to walk, you may also get that instant sense and feeling of jeja vue  like you have been here and there before ...

It is also of interest for me to note, that both my ( Pre and Post Soviet ) Russkie and Belarusian contacts and friends get this even better than I do! Go Tovarishch! God love em.
