The Karameikan Noble Lineage
Note: Thyatians are descended from colonists in the Nithian Empire, which spread across what is now the main portion of the Emirates of Ylarum, Thyatis, and eastern Darokin up to the Kingdoms Alfheim and Rockhome. Following the Great Purge of Nithia, Thyatis continued to grow for a thousand years into a great empire in its own right, settling colonies all across the sea until they met their rivals, the demon worshipping Alphatians. Traladarans are also descended from Nithians and the westward roaming Neathar tribes. Traldar was a distant colony of the Nithian Empire and was mostly forgotten until the Thyatians expanded west.
Stefan Karameikos
(Grand Duke)
Ludwig von Hendriks
(Baron)
Octavius Korrigan
(Lord)
Human Thyatian and noble ruler of the Grand Duchy of Karameikos. Rules from the city of Mirros. Traded the Duchy of Machetos to the Thyatian Emperor Thincol I for the right to rule the Imperial Province of Traladara. He has grand designs for his new holdings, but he must maintain control of a population that wants to wrest itself from Thyatian governance. His parents are dead and he has no other siblings but knows that he must forge a line to keep the Grand Duchy under his family's control. At present, the Grand Duchy has gone against the will of the Thyatian Empire and outlawed slavery, which has brought severe tension along the borders.
Human Thyatian and first cousin to Duke Stefan. Ludwig and Stefan's mothers and Octavius' father are siblings. Ludwig joined his cousin Stefan in Mirros to help manage his lands. He is the ruler of Halag and Demiv and the Warden of the West in the Grand Duchy. After Baron Sergor disappeared into the Dread Realm of Ravenloft for three years, Baron von Hendricks declared Jaspar Kashyev and Baron Sergor's Mother of treason against the Grand Duke and had them executed, placing Luln under his protection and forming the Black Eagle Barony. After the Summit of Lords, he has been cleared of wrongdoing and Bargle the Black has been declared an outlaw for using spirits to manipulated him and Baron Mischa Ivanovich.
Until Stefan Karameikos has an heir, Ludwig is the heir apparent.
Human Thyatian and first cousin to Duke Stefan, Octavius' father and Ludwig and Stefan's mothers are siblings. Octavius is a courtier and the personal representative of Duke Stefan in the court of Emperor Thincol I

Quintos Artinos
(Sir)

They believe Baron von Hendricks murdered the rightful rulers of Luln to expand his personal property and installed a puppet ruler.
Human Thyatian knight, pledged to the service of Baron von Hendriks. He is a fine horseman and former officer in the Thyatian Army, serving in some of the same campaigns that Sir Alexios served in. Wears black plate with the double-headed eagle emblazoned on his chest and shield. He and Bargle the Black "saved" Baron Mischa Ivanovich from a clan of orcs. Unbeknownst to either of them, Baron Mischa was escorting the orcs across the Cruth Riverlands to the Barony of Barovia to repatriate them. Most of the orcs were killed and scattered to the four winds and Baron Mischa suffered a severe head injury in the ensuing combat.
Personages of the Traladaran Clans of Karameikos
Note: All heads of a clan are Boyar, or Nobles of the old Traladaran peoples. Some are Veliki Boyars, or Great Boyars, and others are Malki Boyars, or Little Boyars. Veliki Boyars usually rule settlements while Malki Boyars run powerful families within those settlements. When referring to these rulers in the common tongue of Karameikos, Veliki Boyars are Barons and Malki Boyars are Lords. The distinction is used to denote their status among the other Traladaran Clans.

(Veliki Boyar)
Radmila Marilenev
(Veliki Boyar)
Bohumir Drakul

Head of the Clan Radu and the thieves guild known as The Veiled Society, Clan Radu has strong control of the waterfront and the cave network around the Volaga River to the east of Mirros. Anton Radu conducts most of his business out of the fish market and has no problem tipping information to the Guard Phorsis if it maintains stability. During the Marilenev Rebellion, Clan Radu attempted to maintain neutrality and refused to join with the other Traladaran clans in the coup attempt.
Head of the Clan Torenescu and the man who served as Burgermeister of Mirros under the former Thyatian Governor. Christoph controls the noble district of Mirros known as The Hill. His son Aleksandar was killed while masquerading as The Red Dragon (which coincidentally is his Clan crest), which helped fuel the anti-Thyatian fire that became known as the Marilenev Rebellion.
Head of the Clan Marilenev, Radmila was captured and imprisoned by her granddaughter Bela who used magic to imprison and impersonate her. After the Marilenev Rebellion, she is now the last surviving member of her family. Her family's ancestral home is Marilenev Keep, located mere miles outside of Mirros.
Head of the Clan Drakul, Bohumir is a wealthy merchant who controls the markets of Mirros. The majority of his family was killed during the Marilenev Rebellion. Bohumir has close ties with the Torenescu Clan.
The former head of Clan Ivanovich and Veliki Boyar of Luln, also Sergor and Misha's father. He supported Duke Stefan Karameikos' bid to buy Traladara from the Thyatian throne in hopes that he would bring civilization and order to the far west. At some point he was attacked by a vampire minion of Lord Koriszegy and turned. He was accidentally destroyed by Sir Alexios Steleokontos, thus passing his title and lands to his oldest son, Sergor.
Castellan of Luln and uncle to Sergor and Misha on their mother's side, their uncle Jaspar was a mountain of a man. He ruled Luln in the stead of both Barons Vanko and Sergor when they were off campaigning. Jaspar was executed for treason against the Grand Duchy.
Personages of Barovia
Note: The Vistani are a tribe of Traldar from the time of Halav that lived in the Altan Tepes and Black Peak mountains. They became trapped in the Dread Realm of Ravenloft when Nithian Sorcerors imprisoned the primordial Death. Unlike most residents of the Dread Realms, the Vistani could travel in and out of the mists that served as the borders of the Dread Realms, a trick they taught to Rudolf van Richten after he himself was trapped.
Tatiana
Rudolf van Richten
Adam
Prince Bartok
The Erlking
(Lord Herne)
Chibbitz
(Lord)
A Vistani commoner and the reincarnated love of Count Strahd. In ages past, Tatiana fell in love with Sergei von Zarovich and committed suicide from the battlements of Castle Ravenloft when Strahd murdered his brother. She has been reborn every few decades to torture Count Strahd. At present, Tatiana is currently the 14-year-old ward of Lord Penhaligon.
An elderly Traladaran male and traveler between the different Dread Realms, Rudolf became a Monster Hunter and protector of humanity after his son was turned into a vampire in Ravenloft. He struck a deal with the primordial Death to destroy the other prisoners in the different Dread Realms to eventually release Death, but could not defeat Count Strahd. The PCs utilized his country manor and vast library on vampires to call out Strahd to kill him. Rudolf was killed when the thirteen spirits trapped in Castle Ravenloft were released.
A sentient Flesh Golem and the son of Mordheim's Monster, Rudolf van Richten smuggled Adam out of the Dread Realm of Mordheim and Adam has become a surrogate son to the aging Traladaran Monster Hunter. He assisted Rudolf in hunting other monters and now maintains the Van Richten Library in Castle Ravenloft.
A Darokinian Trade Prince, Bartok became trapped in the Dread Realm while leading a caravan through the mists to Traladara. He was turned into a wight by an unknown master killed by Rudolf van Richten. He lived in a barrow a few miles away from Van Richten's hidden estate. After the fall of the Dread Realm, Prince Bartok has escaped to Darokin to reclaim his Trade Empire.
A powerful Fairy Lord in service to Queen Mab and the Unseelie Court, the Erlking has been at odds with Lord Chibbitz, fighting a war across Barovia while trying to locate Prince Aurin in an effort to destroy one of Titania's sons. Through him, the Unseelie Court is allied with the current rulers of Ravenloft, going so far as to provid assistance for destroying Lord Chibbitz's stronghold at Teufeldorf. The Erlking and his army are currently camped in the woods north of Barovia.
The Erlking (or Lord Herne as he is often called) is a massive humanoid with wide set cat's eyes, hidden behind a stag antler helm.
A powerful Fairy Lord in service to Queen Titania of the Seelie Court, Lord Chibbitz has been at odds with the Erlking, fighting a war across Barovia while trying to locate Prince Aurin to return him to his rightful place in the Seelie Court. Through him, the Seelie Court has secretly allied with Princess Melivora, as she is the current vessel for Prince Aurin's spirit. He has created a more permanent body for Prince Aurin to reside in, but has taken residence in the woods in western Ravenloft until Prince Aurin's strength returns.
Enemies of the Grand Duchy
Note: The enemies of the Grand Duchy are those named individuals encountered by the PCs during their travels. Some of these enemies are dead (in the case of Soulcatcher, multiple times). Some of them died a long time ago and the condition did not take. Some enemies have entries for posterities sake.
Bargle the Black
(Outlaw)
Bela Marilenev
(Deceased)
Lord Koriszegy
(Vampire)
Strahd von Zarovich
(First Vampire)
Aleksandr Torenescu
(Deceased)
Soulcatcher
(Deceased at least twice)
Borislav and Melda
(Vampires)
Human Ierendi Necromancer from Honor Island in the Sea of Dread. It is not believed that Bargle is his real name, just one that is easier to pronounce. A very inquisitive sort, Bargle served as an Investigator and Magister for the Grand Duchy and was anointed a minor lord and advisor to Baron von Hendriks. Bargle presided over the arrest and execution of the rulers of Luln and Demiv for treason. After the events of the Summit of Lords that decided the Grand Duchy's stance on slavery, he is an outlaw wanted by the crown for treason by using spirits to possess the Barons Black Eagle and Ravenloft to keep the slave trade flowing west. He has a bounty of 10,000 gold coins on his head because of how dangerous he is and is the most wanted outlaw in either the Thyatian Empire or the Grand Duchy of Karameikos.
The granddaughter of Radmila Marilenev and the heir of Clan Marilenev after the mysterious deaths of her parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bela was secretly a warlock in league with Demogorgon and Soulcatcher, inviting the Alphatians to Traladara for a two-pronged assault on the Empire of Thyatis for the promise of ruling Traladara as an Alphatian colony. Bela magically trapped her grandmother in a mirror and took her place, instigating the Marilenev Rebellion on the anniversary of the Grand Duchy's creation. A series of unfortunate events set off the Rebellion early and delayed the Alphatian ships from landing in Mirros, allowing the Grand Duke to rally support from Thyatis. Bela died in the assault on Marilenev Keep.
A Traldaran noble and former Lord of the town of Koriszegy, Lord Koriszegy is the sixth and final vampire master created at the end of the Vampire War as a way to stave off certain destruction at the hands of an army of Mirrosian vampires. He utilized a forgotten ritual to contact Strahd von Zarovich in the Dread Realm of Ravenloft and accepted Count Strahd's proposal. Koriszegy Keep fell that night but locked away in the bowls of the crypt, Lord Koriszegy lived on. He convinced the PCs to kill Strahd so that he could free himself, claiming to want his final death. After the borders of the Dread Realm fell, Lord Koriszegy fled and his whereabouts are unknown.
A Traldar noble and former Paladin of Ixion, Strahd was sent by Halav to the Ravenloft Gap to reclaim a forgotten Nithian outpost during the Beastman Invasion. He became lost in the Dread Realm of Ravenloft. After a romantic trist went sideways, Strahd struck a deal with the primordial Death and became the first vampire by stealing and drinking Ixion's blood from the Amber Temple. As a Vampire, Strahd created the Masters of the six vampire lineages. He was destroyed by the PCs, who now rule as the Lords of Castle Ravenloft.
The heir of Clan Torenescu and it is rumored, the lover of Bela Marilenev, Aleksandr was the False Red Dragon whose death at the hands of the real Red Dragon inflamed the Traladaran people into open rebellion against Grand Duke Karameikos. Had the Marilenev Rebellion gone according to plan, he would have ruled Alphatian Traladara beside his beloved.
An Alphatian Sorcereress in league with Bela Marilenev, Soulcatcher lead the Shadow Legion to Traladara to throw out the Thyatians and claim the area as a territory for the Empress of Alphatia. Many years of worship to Demogorgon has transformed Soulcatcher (whose real name is unknown) into a being of pure shadow, whose body could absorb the souls of her victims to unlock a portal to Demogorgon's lair. Her first death was during the Shadow Legion's failed siege of Mirros. Afterwards, she corrupted a tribe of orcs using her foul magic and stirred up trouble in the Cruth Riverlands. Sergor Ivanovich used his connection to the primordial Death to devour the souls within her body, thus depriving her of the life energy needed to heal her wounds. She exploded as the souls left her, opening a tear to Demogorgon's realm that still exists in a cave in the Cruth Mountains.
When Soulcatcher spoke, it was with the voices of the many souls she had devoured. Each voice was different, all driven by her iron will.
A mated pair of Barovian vampires who fed within the shadows of Castle Ravenloft in the town of Barovia. While not the rulers of the town, they held great sway there. Both vampires were present at the Battle of the Temple, and it is believed that Melda was killed in the angelic assault after the Temple was cleansed by Sir Alexios. Her body disappeared before the streets were clean and neither her nor Borislav have been seen since.
