One person died and one was seriously injured in Susquehanna County, PA when a truck owned by Southeast Directional Drilling Company that was loaded with chemicals used in hydrofracking lost control at high speed and rolled over onto a passenger car. The PA State Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene and was told by the driver of the truck, who was not injured, that while he didn’t know the exact nature of the chemicals he was carrying, they “were not dangerous.” News reports have indicated that the truck was fully loaded and may have weighed 20 tons or more. Local residents say that this is the latest in a string of accidents involving the 24 x 7 truck traffic associated with hydrofracking.
