Question 1: What was the original name of Flora A. Ylagan High School?

Answer: It was Quezon City High School (Pinyahan Annex). This was because the school was an annex or “branch” of the Quezon City High School (Main), the mother school of many high schools in Quezon City.

Question 2: How did the school derived its present name?

Answer: The school’s name was given by the Mayor of Quezon City, Honorable Mayor Norberto S. Amoranto. The name was chosen to honor the achievements of Dr. Flora Amoranto Ylagan, a distinguished woman educator and founder of the National Teacher’s College. She was the Mayor’s niece.

Question 3: Who designed the school uniform (for girls)?

Answer: During the summer of May, 1990, when no one was available to make the design for a new school uniform, Mr. A. Fernandez made the design himself. The design was based on an extensive research of uniforms worn by students of many high schools and colleges in Manila and Quezon City. The design was approved by the principal, Mrs. Victoria L. Velasco and submitted for final approval at the Division Office (on May 1990) before start of classes for School Year 1990-1991.
