Jamie Newland, AICE Freshman, wins Poetry Out Loud Competition!

Last night, Fleming Island High held our second annual Poetry Out Loud Competition. Thirty-one students recited poems to an audience of 170 people. The range of emotions and ideas was electrifying. I found myself with a renewed appreciation for how incredibly vital literary art is to our humanity.

At the end of the night, our judges selected one student to represent Fleming Island High School at the state-wide P.O.L. competition in Tallahassee on March 10th.Third place went to Molly Merritt, one of our AICE seniors.
