At the end of last school year, four boys assembled (Troy Dentel, Juan Gonzalez, Quinn Heinton, and Connor Hogan) under the direction of their coach and sponsor Mrs. Saunders to form a debate team. So far this year, the team has competed in two tournaments: one in Gainesville and one in Boca Raton. The team performed admirably in both of these endeavors, including breaking to
octafinals in the Blue Key Tournament at the University of Florida. This competition is one of the most strenuous as competitors come from all over the southeastern region of the United States to participate.
The club is currently in the process of active growth, seeking out new members to add to the already flourishing organization. Students wishing to find out more about the team and the various types of debate offered, including Public Forum Debate, Policy Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, as well as several other forms of forensic competition should contact Mrs. Saunders at FIHS and/or consult the team's website at FIHSdebate.webs.com!
