AICE is extremely proud to announce that out of the six National Merit Scholars selected at FIHS the following five students are enrolled in our program:
McKenzie Coughlin
Sandy Feliciano (Sandy also received the National Merit Hispanic recognition award)
Crysta Iv
April Nguyen
Russell Rollins
Each year juniors take the PSAT in October and scores are released in December. Part of the report indicates a student's rank on the National Merit Scholarship scale. If a student's score falls in the 96th percentile they become semi-finalists for National Merit Scholar. This is a prestigious award which can bring offers of scholarships and guaranteed admission to many universities.
In addition to the National Merit Scholars FIHS also had three students, all AICE students, who received National Merit commended status. These students scores did not meet the cutoff for the semi-finalist stage but did fall not far under the mark. This is also a prestigious award and will be recognized by universities with possible scholarships and also in the admission process. The three commended students are:
Zach Stachowiak
Sarah Tew
Tucker Simonton
FIHS had more National Merit Scholars this year than Bolles, Paxon School of Advanced Studies and St. John's Country Day School.
Please congratulate these students when you see them. This is an amazing accomplishment and we are very proud of them.
