In a perfect world Windows XP will have installed drivers for all or most of your hardware devices, especially a network card that will allow you to connect to the internet. If not, hopefully you downloaded the key driver listed here. To see which devices need drivers r-click on My Computer and select "Properties". On the "Hardware" tab select "Device Manager". Any items on the tree with a minus sign instead of a plus sign require drivers. Go to your system manufacturer's page and enter your Service Tag, Serial Number, or other identifying information and download any drivers you still need. Remember the instructions for organizing your downloaded drivers given earlier. Install them in the following order:
chipset
LAN card
WiFi card
video drivers
audio drivers
card readers
modem drivers
miscellaneous
You will probably be prompted to re-boot the system between the installation of each driver. When finished, discard all driver downloads AND any driver files/folders that have been extracted to your Desktop.
