Research Activities
My research activities lie in three general topics as follows:
1. Smart Grid Communications
Climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction are of interest lately. It was reported that about 33% of GHG in Australia during 2013-2014 came from electricity sector. One alternative to reduce GHG emissions from electricity sector is to employ smart grid systems. A smart grid system is able to control and optimise the power generation, delivery, and distribution. Therefore, in order to do its task, a smart grid system needs two way communication links. The links can be wireless or wireline. Power-line communications (PLC) may be a favorable technology due to its wide existence. However, it has several drawbacks including the presence of impulsive noise. My research activities in this area include:
Impulsive noise mitigation in PLC
PLC noise and channel modelling
MIMO-PLC systems
Wireless communications for smart grid applications
2. Communication Systems for Biomedical Applications
Information and communication technology (ICT) plays an important role in biomedical applications. For example, it can be used to detect tumors, deliver drugs through blood vessels, etc. The research activities in this area include, but not limited to
Biotelemetry applications
Molecular communications
3. General Areas of Signal Processing for Communications and Wireless Communications
The research activities in this area include
5G systems: mmwave systems, filtered-OFDM, non-orthogonal modulation
Compressive sensing techniques
Indoor localisation systems
I am looking for research collaborations. If you are interested in those research topics, please do not hesitate to contact me.
