She's done! With the body on it was just a matter of installing the remaining trim items, windshield, nothing too fancy. It took only a couple of short drives to change my mind on the solid motor mounts...they got yanked out and the poly ones put back in in short order. I'm stilling tweaking the EFI system, but that shouldn't take long. The more I drive it the more it adapts, but it's still pretty rough on cold startups.
Several folks from the Utah Cobra Club were passing through on a weekend cruise...we had breakfast with them and would have went along but I think I need to dial in the EFI a bit more before taking 'er out on the highway. We stopped off by the Vietnam Memorial in Freeman Park here...one club member's FFR was having a wardrobe malfunction so he brought his Stingray 'vette instead. Fiberglass is fiberglass, right? Note the 'Cobrella' mini-tops on a couple of the cars...not as much fuss as a full top, but some handy shelter from the summer sun that folds out of the way in a snap. We'll have to get one.
Stop for a photo op down by the greenbelt and quickly gathered gaggles of gawkers. 'Are those real?! Wow, well, they're still cool!'
Front quarter view. The stripe colors are still a bit darker than I planned, even in the sun, but I still like the look. I'll have to get some of the clear bra material put on the front and some spats for the rear fenders. Got a sidepipe alignment wedge on the way from Breeze, which should tuck that driver's side pipe in a bit closer and higher. Passenger side is right on.
And a rear quarter view, with Mikey rarin' to go, even though it was getting very warm already...hottest day of the year so far. I'll probably have to get a set of spinners for the Halibrands.
And a straight-on (nearly) shot. I have some screens to put in the side ducts as well as a top panel to close the gap between the top of the radiator and the body, also from Breeze. So far no cooling issues at all, the dial holds at about 172 indicated, not sure if that's the actual. The EFI system might need a bit higher temp to work optimally, we'll see is I continue tuning.
And an engine bay shot. I thought I might have a clearance issue with the air cleaner spacer on top of the throttle body, but got a good half inch to go.
And hiney view. License plates are temporary, got some others on the way, but they'll blend in with the color scheme too.
And the office view. I really like the leather-wrapped wheel better than the wood. Haven't tried out the DPIC gauge yet. Speedo was pretty easy to calibrate. Used a glovebox from Finishline. The Ipod input and USB input cables are tucked in there, along with the laptop plugin for the Powerjection III EFI system.
T-shirts from Replica Promotions (thanks Ted!).
Family pic...awwwwww.
Ready to go terrorize the streets!
