With my foot showing no sign of improvement most of the week, another visit to the podiatrist yielded an exquisitely excruciating shot of cortisone in the top of it. No numbing shot first that close to the ankle you see...doesn't do any good, he says. Thank you sir, may I have another. Ahem. Anyway.
Things finally seemed to start settling down after that and I was able to hobble around a bit, and sitting on a low stool I can stretch my leg out and wrench on the car some more. It distracts from the throbbing in my foot anyway. Made some good progress...pain can give you energy. Still more futzing around the suspension to do, but getting closer.
Got the rear all assembled except for the lower end of the coilover shocks (500-lb. springs) and the 7/8" swaybar. Waiting on some poly bushings and endlinks for the bar so it might actually have some effect.
And a shot of the right rear, just for comparison's sake from the original shot here.
And installed the battery box, under the trunk floor, rather than in the trunk itself. More room for luggage, subwoofer, etc.
And hooked up the steering shaft and put the old steering wheel on temporarily, so I can more easily swing the suspension back and forth to make more adjustments.
And got the gas tank assembled and installed. Replaced the filler neck and vent grommets with new ones.
Installed a new 255 liter-per-hour fuel pump...plenty of extra capacity for the expected level of oomph in the new motor. Used a new pump bracket I got from another FFCobra forum member who had welded some -6 AN fittings on the ends, which will work out nicely with the new braided lines I'll be running soon.
Then started on the pedal box. Stock pedal ends are removed in this shot, waiting for the AC pedal pads you see on the table. The white plastic clutch quadrant also gets ditched for an aluminum unit, of course.
And the pedal box installed in the car. Decided to keep the clutch interlock switch...it can pay off the first time some doofus hits the engine start button with it in gear.
And dropped by the engine builder...they're making progress too, up to the shortblock stage, plus oil pan. Waiting on a bolt kit, and I found out I had the wrong size roller rocker arms. Need them for 7/16 studs, I had ordered 3/8, thinking that's what were in the heads already. D'oh.
Hmmm, what color shall I paint it?
