AP World History
Artifact Google Classroom Portfolio Project
Students will create an artifact portfolio with 24 artifacts that best represent world history. It will function as a narrative of world history and be a useful study tool for the AP exam. For each historical period students will choose 4 artifacts that:
· Best represent that period
· Are important to world history
Artifacts may not be:
· Ideas
· People
· Religions
· Concepts
They should be tangible things one might see in a museum.
Each artifact must include the following:
1. One paragraph that explains what the artifact is, used for, and a basic description
a. This must be in your own words. Any level of plagiarism will result in a zero
2. One paragraph that analyzes its importance to world history.
a. Why of all the things in the world did you choose this one? How is this important to understanding the history of the world? What does it add to the story of humanity?
3. One paragraph on why the artifact best represents the historical period. (See the Key Concepts)
a. What about this artifact is representative of the historical period? What does it have that is prevalent and important to that time?
b. see the key concepts to help tie this in:
4. In your paragraphs you should use at least two SPICE themes to explain your choices.
a. This is a cultural artifact because X. It adds to Y politically, or the like.
5. A photo of the artifact (Accurate) and its name.
6. Citations at the bottom of each artifact crediting your sources (including image sources)
A paragraph is not 3-5 sentences. A paragraph must be at least 5+ sentences depending on substance. You must give analysis and historical evidence.
Projects must be done digitally.
They must be in PDF format as this insures continuity across platforms and programs.
Projects must be turned in on Google Classroom.
