FBHS Colorguard Summer Camp

Come experience the excitement!

Camp is open to boys and girls entering grades K-8.

Camp Information

Learn colorguard and dance skills from the staff and current FBHS Colorguard members! Campers will learn a flag routine, dance routine, and pom routine. The FBHS Colorguard members will teach and lead all activities under the direct supervision of the FBHS Colorguard Staff.

Snacks and drinks will be provided daily to the campers, but bringing your own water bottle is strongly encouraged. Please indicate any food allergies upon registration.

Each participant will receive a camp t-shirt, colorguard equipment, and their own set of poms to take home after camp! At 11:30am on Thursday, parents will be invited to come to campus to see what the participants have learned throughout the week at the Camp Performance and to celebrate their achievements at the awards ceremony.

Students who participate in the FBHS Colorguard Summer Camp will be invited back to our first home football game to march into the stadium with the band, perform in the stands with our colorguard, and have VIP seating on the field to see the public debut of the Flowery Branch High School Marching Falcons half-time performance!

Please register by DATE TBA to ensure your child receives the correct t-shirt size. Any registrations after this date will receive a t-shirt but it may not be the correct size.

What does the registration fee cover?

    • Covers camp t-shirt, refreshments, poms, and colorguard equipment

    • Students will be able to take home poms and colorguard equipment after the Camp Performance.

Frequently asked questions

Who can participate in the camp?

    • The camp is open to any boy or girl who will be entering grade levels K - 8 for the 2020-2021 school year. Everyone is welcome!

When is the registration deadline?

    • Registration for the discounted rate is due by Monday, June 8th. After that date, registrations are welcome up until the first camp date. Please note - your child may not be able to receive a shirt in the correct size if registered after June 8th.

What should my child wear to camp?

    • Campers will be moving in all classes, so comfortable clothing is a must! In addition, some form of closed toed/tennis shoes will be required. Suggested attire includes: t-shirt/athletic shirt, athletic shorts, socks, and tennis shoes

What should my child bring to camp?

    • The supplies used for camp will be provided, but your child will want to have his/her own water bottle. If your child has very restrictive dietary needs, it is suggested that you pack his/her snack each day. In addition, if your child requires any medications/medical devices, please be sure to send your child with these items. It may be useful to also pack an extra change of clothes. Please place all items in a bag, and all bags will be stored in a secure/monitored location for the duration of camp.

Where will the camp take place?

    • The registration, check-in, and check-out will take place each day in the FBHS Cafeteria. Camp activities will take place in the Band Room and the Upper Gym. The Camp Performance and Award Ceremony will take place in the FBHS Main Gym. We do not expect to go outside for any part of the camp.

What will be child be able to take home with them after camp?

    • Your child will receive a camp t-shirt, colorguard flag and pole, and a set of pom poms. In addition, a few small prizes and participation certificates will be awarded to campers during the Parent Performance on Thursday.

Who will be supervising my child for the duration of camp?

    • Your child will be supervised by the FBHS Colorguard Director Tita Lovell. Tita Lovell is a certified teacher employed by Hall County Schools at Flowery Branch High School. There will be additional adult supervision provided by the FBHS Colorguard Staff as well as high school parent volunteers. Although the majority of the camp will be taught by the current members of the FBHS Colorguard, the camp will be administered by the FBHS Colorguard Director & Staff.

How will I check-out my student at the end of each camp day?

    • Parents/Guardians will be required to indicate adults (18+) who can pick up your child on a paper form during check-in on the first day of camp. Students will need to be physically signed out by the responsible adult. IDs will be checked prior to your child being released from camp, and names must match those on the approved list. Your child will not be able to be checked out by anyone other than the adults listed on the registration form.
