Dr. Fatick Nath is an Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering in the School of Engineering at TAMIU. He is an active researcher and successful grant recipient, having secured funding from the National Science Foundation, the American Chemical Society, and TAMIU to support research infrastructure and student-centered projects. He has taught more than 15 undergraduate petroleum engineering courses and has published over 45 peer-reviewed journals and conference papers, many co-authored with undergraduate and graduate students.
His research focuses on geomechanics, geothermal energy, carbon capture and storage, hydraulic fracturing, and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in geo-energy systems, with a strong emphasis on integrating research, education, and workforce development. He has over a decade of experience teaching undergraduate-level petroleum engineering at two universities and has mentored more than 20 undergraduate and graduate students.
Before joining TAMIU, he completed his PhD in petroleum systems engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He began his career at Chevron in 2007 as an associate petroleum engineer and worked there until 2011. Dr. Nath next served as an assistant professor in the Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh, from 2011 to 2014.
He holds a master’s degree in petroleum engineering, a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, and a master’s in natural gas engineering from Texas A&M University.
