Water Tower Grove - A Reality!
The neighborhood association has been working to preserve the trees on the old water tower site at 605 Tenth Street and C Ave. A new park on that site has been suggested by City Manager Martha Bennett and the idea was supported by both Public Works Director Erica Rooney and Parks Director Ivan Anderholm. The site has a beautiful stand of 23 large Douglas fir trees.
UPDATE:
On April 16, 2025 The City of Lake Oswego's Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Board approved the nomination of 18 Douglas firs at 505 Tenth St. The trees measure 10"- 50" trunk diameter with an average diameter of 32". All trees are ~150 feet tall forming ~16,000 SF of canopy cover and are ~115 years old. According to City of Lake Oswego Code 55.06.030 this tree stand is of landmark importance due to age, size, species horticulture quality and historic importance. Thank you to Morgan Holen, Lake Oswego Contract Arborist, for presenting an excellent Heritage Tree Nomination Presentation. Information for the Heritage Tree Celebration will be updated soon!
