Hello fourth grade parents,
I have added parents to this emailing list, so I do apologize if I repeat myself from past emails.
1) I truly am sad about our time in social distancing and being away from school. I miss this entire class! My heart breaks to see our time together taken away. Please know you can reach out to me if you have any questions. One thing I will not do is overload the kids with homework. Please encourage them to do school work from home, especially reading. However, spending time with them in your own way is also very valuable.
2) I have attached a PDF document with information on how you can get free breakfast and lunch through SSC Community Schools. Yes, St. Michael's students can take advantage of this opportunity. Please read the attached bilingual document.
3) From rumors, I have been asked if school has been cancelled for the rest of the year. This is not true. I do know SSC has extended their time away from school until AFTER Easter, I am sure St. Michaels will follow this.
4) Student work: I suggest that students spend 1-2 hours a day doing academic school work:
a: Aleks (math): 20 minutes
b: Lexia (language and reading): 20 minutes
c: Reading to self, a parent, or sibling: 20-30 minutes
d: I will suggest a fourth activity each day. It isn't required but IS a great way to continue learning. This fourth activity will be related to science, social studies, or religion.
Your child receives an email each week day with reminders to continue learning. It is sent to their school gmail.
