Classroom Management Plan
Fifth Grade - Room 208
Heart: Students are encouraged to demonstrate exemplary kindness and helpfulness and to acknowledge the kindness of others. We learn and refer to the lessons of our Second Step curriculum for strategies on increasing empathy, understanding others' perspectives, and calming down.
Mind: Fifth Graders are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and academic growth. We encourage a Growth Mindset! Independence in classroom routines is on a gradual release model. Routines are taught, modeled, and practiced until students are ready to perform them independently.
Effort: Rubrics and detailed instructions are provided for academic subjects to help students understand expectations and monitor their learning. Students contribute to the classroom through taking on responsibilities and jobs on a rotating basis.
